When processing personal data, SEDA shall fully comply with applicable regulations, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter referred to as the Regulation).

SEDA shall ensure confidentiality of personal data and has implemented relevant technical and organizational measures for the protection of personal data from unauthorized access, illegal processing or disclosure, accidental loss, change or destruction.

The data controller will process your data based on the performance of the public task of the SEDA  (Article 6 (1) point e of Regulation), to ensure the management, implementation, monitoring, and control of education-related projects and initiatives of the European Union and other international financial instruments (such as the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Norway).

We collect only the data voluntarily provided by the users by completing the forms on the contest participant registration website https://ieucys.eu. Most of the personal data has been collected directly from you.

We provide data and process data when you:

  • register for the event as a participant, member of the jury, or volunteer;
  • present bios of the contest’s participants, volunteers, members of the jury and organisers, including their first and last name, affiliate organisation, country and picture;
  • announce the contest’s results at the award ceremony of the contest.
  • voluntarily complete our post-event participant survey;
  • prepare the post-event statistics and collect feedback for future editions.

We keep your personal data until it is necessary to provide reports on the use of funding, but no longer than 5 years from the date of the last payment.

What are your data protection rights?

SEDA wants to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following rights:

  • the right to access – you have the right to request for copies of your personal data;
  • the right to rectification – you have the right to request to have any information you believe is inaccurate corrected;
  • the right to erasure – you have the right to request to have your personal data erased;
  • the right to restrict processing – you have the right to request to have the processing of your personal data restricted;
  • the right to object to processing – you have the right to object to processing of your personal data by SEDA;
  • the right to data portability – you have the right to request that SEDA transfers the collected data to another organisation, or directly to you.

You shall be entitled to submit a complaint against the processing of personal data in the Data State Inspectorate (pasts@dvi.gov.lv), if you believe that the processing of the personal data is in violation of the rights and interests defined in regulatory enactments.
